David Rivera was born on the 25th of December, as a premonition of his outstanding life.
At the age of 13, he was invited as honorary student in the drawing course at the Museo de Arte de Lima because of his active participation years before. At 20, he joined the Escuela de Bellas Artes del Peru in Lima, to become one of the best students ever to assist the art school.
D. Rivera is an avid reader and frequent visitor of libraries. He claims he has been able to uncover the secrets of national and universal masters that allow him to stand out from the other painters, mostly, in such libraries. His favorite artists include Van Gogh, Monet, Cezanne, Dali and Picasso, on the International Masters and Victor Humareda, Jose Sabogal , Fernando de Syzlo and Carlos Revilla, on the National Artists.
Other artists that have contributed with his painting in a more direct way include Ramon Aleman, Leonel Velarde, to whom he is especially grateful for his input on colour, including colour temperature and perspective, Jose Aldana, Jose Coronado and Teresa Kameya.
In the same way he has received all this knowledge, he is returning it back, to young students, by teaching art courses in several institutions that include the renown Instituto de Disseno Jose Sabogal.
